This pencil drawing was done on A2 paper and ended up being quite a long project, taking 'some' weeks to complete. It's of a scene at Eastside, South Ronaldsay, just below where I live on Orkney. The idea was to try and draw something challenging that had lots of different surfaces to experiment with - and this scene had it all, old wood, stone, rope, rusty metal, grass and sky. About half way through it however, I had serious second thoughts about the choice of subject! The rabbit and the Hen Harrier were added to the scene as an afterthought, as they are both fairly common hereabouts, as is 'Sid the spider' if you can find him in the picture links below.
